ETVOL is delighted to welcome Daniel T. Blumstein, Professor and Chair of the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at UCLA, as ETVOL’s new BIOLOGY editor. In this interview, we discuss Dan’s research on marmots and how he applies his expertise to areas such as Conservation Biology, Environmental Education, Natural Security, and Evolutionary Medicine. We also discuss trends in evolutionary biology as a whole, based on Dan’s experience as a chair of a major department.
Dan will be joined by Associate Editor Kathryn Bowers, a science writer and co-author (with Barbara Natterson-Horowitz ) of the new book Zoobiquity: What Animals Can Teach Us About Health and the Science of Healing. The study of evolution will always be centered in the biological sciences, in addition to its many human-related applications, and we are thrilled that Dan and Kathryn will be helping us feature biological sciences on the pages of ETVOL.
