EVOLUTION INSTITUTE PROJECTS

East Pasco Initiative

About the East Pasco area

Just north of New Tampa are vibrant, culturally-rich communities such as those in Tommytown, Lacoochee-Trilby, and Dade City. This is also where Hispanic workers fight for basic rights and working conditions, Black families live in food deserts without access to healthy, affordable food, immigrant parents struggle to provide their children with quality education, and affordable housing and healthcare services can be effectively unattainable while being exposed to relatively higher levels of pollution and hazardous waste. Dedicated community leaders are working tirelessly to improve living conditions, and the Evolution Institute is committed to amplifying their work. We do this through direct support to on the ground projects, as well as through scientific reinforcement of community-built power and understanding.
