David Sloan Wilson (President)
Dr. Wilson is SUNY Distinguished Professor of Biology and Anthropology at Binghamton University. He applies evolutionary theory to all aspects of humanity in addition to the rest of life, both in his own research and as director of EvoS, a unique campus-wide evolutionary studies program that recently received NSF funding to expand into a nationwide consortium.(More…) His books include Darwin’s Cathedral: Evolution, Religion, and the Nature of Society, Evolution for Everyone: How Darwin’s Theory Can Change the Way We Think About Our Lives, and The Neighborhood Project: Using Evolution to Improve My City, One Block at a Time. Peter Turchin (Vice President)
Dr. Turchin is Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Connecticut. Peter was trained as a population biologist and is now applying his theoretical and empirical skills to develop the field of Cliodynamics–the quantitative study of human history. Jerry Lieberman (Secretary/Treasurer)
Dr. Lieberman is President of the Humanists of Florida Association and co-director of the Evolution Institute.Earlier in his career, Jerry served as a university-level professor and administrator. He also was the principal of an investment banking company and an importer with the former Soviet Union. He has served on numerous government and corporate boards and has raised over 100 million dollars from public and private resources to support activities he is engaged with. Nancy Martin (Board Member)
currently leads an active retired life as a Grandmother, volunteer and board member (advisory or technical) for LEDA and Red Butte Gardens (SLC, UT) and is an active Humanist. Previously, Nancy was an independent consultant having retired gracefully at age 65. Her main consulting activity involved a retainer with Warburg Pincus for whom she performed technology due diligence and technology consulting with current portfolio companies. (More…) Nancy joined Warburg Pincus as a Partner/Director in January 1999 where she founded and lead the Information Technology Assessment and Strategy Group. During the period from 1999-2005, she was responsible for the technology due diligence conducted prior to investment and periodic reviews and trouble shooting after investment. She joined teams across all industry groups and specializations and served on several BODs. Prior to joining Warburg Pincus, she was Vice President for Research and Development for MCI Systemhouse. Nancy was Executive Director for Advanced Technology for Melville Corporation and a Partner with Coopers & Lybrand where she directed advanced technology nationally. She was CEO and Founder of SoftPert Systems. SoftPert was sold to Coopers & Lybrand who subsequently sold the products to CA and retained the training and consulting divisions. Nancy was founding professor of Software Engineering at Wang Institute of Graduate Studies and Visiting Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University as well as tenured professor and department chair at University of Michigan (Flint) and tenured Associate Professor at University of New Mexico. She has been a Director for several WP investments as well as serving on the Advisory board of NeuMont (not a WP investment) University and a Trustee of the charitable organization Prep for Prep. In the mid-70s, Nancy was the cofounder of the New Mexico Network for Women in Science and Engineering. An organization dedicated to mentoring young girls and women in their academic choices. This organization is still strong today. She received a BA in mathematics (with distinction) from Stanford University and an M.S. and Ph.D. from The University of Michigan in Computer and Communication Science. (Hide)

Dr. Wilson is University Research Professor in Entomology at Harvard University and member of the executive board of the Evolution Institute. Bernard Winograd
Former Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Prudential, Inc. Bernard oversaw the U.S. businesses of Prudential, where he managed over 450 billion dollars of assets. Before joining Prudential, he held executive positions at Taubman Centers, Inc., a national regional shopping center company, the Bendix Corporation, and the U.S. Treasury. (More…) A University of Chicago Bachelor of Arts graduate, he has a long standing interest in evolution that led to his association with the Evolution Institute. It was Bernard who originally proposed that “The Nature of Regulation” should become one of our focal topics. (Hide)
